Images to download

I have had quite a few inquiries about the Dover images I have used recently. I posted the url to the Dover website so that you can get the weekly emails with the free samples. The images I have used are from a long time ago so after a lot of brain strain trying to figure out how to get these images to you I have finally figured it out. Yeah for me!

In the future when I use one of these older images I will have a link on the relevant post so that you can download the image. In the meantime you can download the three images I have used so far HERE They are .bmp images in a zip file so you will need Winzip or some other way to unzip them and save them to your computer.

The outside sure isn't much!

This is a card I made this morning. VERY plain jane....or is it?


This is the inside of the card! I was surfing when I found this video and thought I would give it a try. I made the flowers smaller than in the video, I cut a sheet of computer paper into 1/8ths. This will give you one piece to experiment with. The only other thing I did differently was I sponged the edges of the flowers. If I do another one I will tweek it more, maybe use colored paper for the flowers and decorate the inside and maybe put a sentiment on the inside too. It was fun to do, give it a try!

Count Your Blessings

I made this card for the sketch challenge on Creative Cuttlebuggers. The image is another free image from Dover Publications colored with Prismacolor pencils. The white panels are cuttled with the D'Vine Swirl folder and then highlighted with a lavendar Colorbox Fluid Chalk inkpad. The sentiment is from Whipper Snapper Designs Blooming Expressions.

We don't see things as they are....

This image is another one I got free from Dover Publications. This time after printing it out I traced it onto vellum, colored it with Prismacolor pencils on the back and cut it out. If you enlarge the picture you will see that rather than cut it out with scissors I used the parchment craft method of pricking all around the edge and then snipping between the holes. Very time consuming and I won't be doing that again!

The frame is made with 2 sizes of Nesties Labels 1 cut and embossed from watercolor paper with the Cuttlebug. I used a gold leaf pen on the edges of the frame and on the centers of the flowers. The flowers and frame are raised up on pop dots. I ran the green CS through the CB with the Swiss Dots folder and the card base is watercolor paper.

You Are Special

As well as playing with PSP I also decided that I would do a little parchment crafting. Parchment crafting is the name of the craft, Pergamano is a company that makes parchment crafting supplies but like tissues and Kleenex they have become interchangable!

This card was made for no reason except that I liked the border. Let me tell you though it is very time consuming and I will not be doing a lot of it! I could probably have made at least 5 cards in the time it took me to make this one and there is no lace on it! For some beautiful eye candy take a look HERE. Enjoy!

I was playing around with Paintshop Pro yesterday. I used to play a lot but recently I have only used it to edit my pictures. Boy are my skills rusty! Anyway, I came up with this for all the mothers out there.

Scrappy Saturday

It's Scrappy Saturday again! This first card is for all of you who visit my blog and especially to those who have left such nice comments and sent me such nice e-mails. Thank you.

I used the same stamp for this card as I used for the Simple Floral card on Wednesday. This time I stamped the flower on some scrap pieces of gingham and polka dot papers and cut them out. I punched circles for the flower centers and drew happy faces on them and raised them with pop dots. The flowers are just glued down in the center leaving the petals free. For the leaves I used a country heart punch and then drew around the edges and put dots with a black pen to match the stamp. The stems are just slivers of paper I cut freehand. The sentiment is Printworks Collection Small Tag Lines.


Folded Iris is a great way to use up those narrow strip of paper. You can find great information HERE and patterns HERE. For this piece I reduced the pattern to 3 1/2".

I cut a piece of CS and DP 6" x 6" then cut the circle from the plain CS using a Nestie closest to the size of my pattern. I cut a circle from the DP a size bigger. For the iris I used strips of double sided cardstock and did not fold it. I cut two strips 3/4" wide x 8" long (as that was the length of my scraps) of 5 different patterns. I used a Zig 2-way glue pen on one edge of each piece and embossed with a 50/50 mix of Ranger Gold embossing powder and Ranger gold embossing tinsel. the center is a tiny piece of gold paper that I have no idea where it came from.


The DP is some that I have had forever and never thought I would use as the pattern is so large! To spice it up I outlined the pattern with a Gelly Roll gold metallic pen. The golds really do not show up well in the picture but you can see it a bit better in the close-up. What looks like white on the DP is the gold outlines I did. I plan to frame this piece rather than make it into a card.
