This is another card I made with scraps. Still not much of a dent in the drawer!

Using up some scraps

I made a couple of cards using scraps. I hate to throw scraps away and while looking through my scrap drawer I came across this pretty piece that I wanted to do something with.

The DP is a scrap from a 4" x 6"designer mat pad from Ancestry.com, the pink is a scrap of Core'dinations Color Core and the card base is Bazzill. The sentiment is unmounted rubber from MSE I believe.

Scrappy Saturday

This will be the last Scrappy Saturday. I am running out of ideas! In the future I will put scrappy cards in Frugal Friday after all it is very frugal to use scraps! These scraps from Basic Grey 'Sugared' are just as they came out of my scrap draw. I matted the bottom panel in burgandy and the other two in green. I punched the little flowers from the same green and added a couple of rivets that came as a free gift in an order. I don't remember from where. The sentiment is from Stampin Up.

Scrappy Saturday

It's Scrappy Saturday again! This first card is for all of you who visit my blog and especially to those who have left such nice comments and sent me such nice e-mails. Thank you.

I used the same stamp for this card as I used for the Simple Floral card on Wednesday. This time I stamped the flower on some scrap pieces of gingham and polka dot papers and cut them out. I punched circles for the flower centers and drew happy faces on them and raised them with pop dots. The flowers are just glued down in the center leaving the petals free. For the leaves I used a country heart punch and then drew around the edges and put dots with a black pen to match the stamp. The stems are just slivers of paper I cut freehand. The sentiment is Printworks Collection Small Tag Lines.


Folded Iris is a great way to use up those narrow strip of paper. You can find great information HERE and patterns HERE. For this piece I reduced the pattern to 3 1/2".

I cut a piece of CS and DP 6" x 6" then cut the circle from the plain CS using a Nestie closest to the size of my pattern. I cut a circle from the DP a size bigger. For the iris I used strips of double sided cardstock and did not fold it. I cut two strips 3/4" wide x 8" long (as that was the length of my scraps) of 5 different patterns. I used a Zig 2-way glue pen on one edge of each piece and embossed with a 50/50 mix of Ranger Gold embossing powder and Ranger gold embossing tinsel. the center is a tiny piece of gold paper that I have no idea where it came from.


The DP is some that I have had forever and never thought I would use as the pattern is so large! To spice it up I outlined the pattern with a Gelly Roll gold metallic pen. The golds really do not show up well in the picture but you can see it a bit better in the close-up. What looks like white on the DP is the gold outlines I did. I plan to frame this piece rather than make it into a card.

Scrappy Saturday

Only one card today as I still haven't found my mojo. This is another card inspired by a quilt pattern. I punched 10- 1" squares and glued them to a 5" x 4" piece of vanilla CS. I used a Martha Stewart punch for the butterflies. The punch has 3 butterflies, one medium and 2 small. Don't know what it is called. I sponged the edges of the squares and the butterflies with Ranger tea dye Distress Ink. For the 'stitching' I used the fine tip of a Marvy Le Plume #6 brown marker. I cut the green card to 51/4" x 41/4".

Okay, I messed up again! I scheduled the scrappy post last night to post this morning at 6am....or so I thought! When I checked to see if it had posted I saw that I had scheduled it for 6PM. That idiot stick is still beating me. LOL Anyway it is coming.

Scrappy Saturday Encore

Okay, so I am new to this blogging thing. I tried last night to schedule the Scrappy Saturday post to publish this morning but it published right away so I have Scrappy Saturday posted on Friday! So in that case if that is how it want's to be then I will have a scrappy encore!

The original idea for this card came from here I just used squares instead of circles.

For this card I used punched circles but most of the 'doodling' I did with Borders and Corners {circles} stamps from Papertrey Ink I ran the background and some of the circles seperately through the Cuttlebug using the Spots and Dots folder.

This card reminds me of the New York skyline but I guess it could also look like candles. I just used scraps of mostly Basic Grey papers. I think this would make a great card for a man. *TIP It is difficult to cut strips a consistant width. I know I have either had the paper a little crooked or the measurement is just a little off and they don't match up exactly. To solve this problem I taped a piece of cardstock to the cutter along the measurement line that I want and then slide the paper in from the right and butt it up against the cardstock. You can also cut perfect squares this way at any size you desire. It is quicker than using a nestie and cheaper than a punch!


I removed the piece that holds the paper down so that you can see a little better what I am talking about.

Scrappy Saturday

This is the card I made with the scraps left over from the ornament card. I cut the leftover triangles in half on the fold and then cut two of the triangles a little smaller. The piece the sentiment is on is a piece left over from cutting the 6" x6" Basic Grey Wassail paper to a 4" x4" square. There are enough leftovers to make 2 of these cards.

For this card I used a scrap of red that measured 2 3/8" x 3 5/8". I don't know how I ended up with a piece this size but that is the way it came out of my scrap folder. I just used different sized circle punches around the edges and then flipped the pieces. I used a regular hole punch to punch the holes in the center and then outlined with black dots.



This is another card done in the same way but I found a black triangle and used a really small scrap of purple. I didn't put sentiments on these cards but sentiments can easily be added as needed. These would look great using double sided DP too with the reverse pattern showing.

Scrappy Saturday

I have decided to make Saturday's scraps day. I have so many scraps that I need to use them or get rid of them. I keep any piece that is 1" square or more! This probably comes from making miniatures for so many years. A 1" scrap is like a 12"x12" sheet of DP.



These cards are based on quilt blocks. The one on the left is called Windmill and the one on the right Pinwheel. For these card I cut 8 - 1 1/4" squares fron DP and then cut the squares diagonally to make triangles. This will give you enough triangles for bith cards. The card on the left is 4 1/14" square. I arranged the triangles on a piece of white cardstock and used a grey marker to do the faux stitching. Then I ran it through my Cuttlebug using the Paisley folder. For the card on the right I arranged the triangles and added dots around the outside of the triangles with a white gel pen. The sentiment is from Stampin Up. This is the first time I have ever added a button to a card although I have a ton of them!


I had bought a package of Basic Grey Pheobe 12 x 12 scrapbook paper on clearance at Hobby Lobby. The patterns are to big for card making but the front sheet that has all the patterns on are a perfect size (so are the labels that come with the pack) I cut 1/2" wide strips and wove then together. I made a border with the Scor-Pal and the sentiment is from Stampabilities.
