A Christmas card....and more

I still do not have my desktop back thus the shortage of blogs. In the meantime I have added a new member to my family.....a puppy!

Nutmeg is 4 months old and was adopted from the Humane Society.The pictures were taken with an i-phone at the Humane Society facility and Nutmeg was not being very cooperative!

I mailed most of my Christmas cards before I remembered that I hadn't taken pictures! This is one card I still have. The image was a free digi from Gina K. I colored some images with different colors but my favorite was this one.

I'm back...kinda

My desktop is still not fixed but I did download my photo editing program to my laptop so I am sort of in business again.
These are some cards I made for Dutch Paper Crafts using Marianne Designs ornament dies.

I also used a pop-up die to make this card.

For this easel card I used a small calendar to hold the card open.

For this book card the ornaments are cut from holographic paper and backed with pearl paper. The ornaments in the box are suspended on clear thread. I fixed the thread to the back of the ornaments with Scor-tape and poked small holes in the top and bottom of the box and threaded the thread through and fixed it with Scor- tape. As you move the card the ornaments jiggle and catch the light.

For the bell ornament I decided to make a wedding card instead of a Christmas card

Tag gift card

I have been trying to come up with different ways to include a gift card in a Christmas card but not having it be obvious. This is what I came up with.

This is the card closed with a belly band around it. The DP is from a My Paper Studio pad called Ornamental Christmas. (I think that is Hobby Lobby's own brand) The image is a digital image from Mo Manning colored with Prismacolor pencils.

 This is the inside of the card with a tag in a pocket.

For the gift card I attached it to the back of the tag with a piece of temporary double sided tape. After I finished the tag though I thought that I could have made it a couple of inches longer, scored it and bent to the back to hold the gift card.I will try that on the next one. This one is a little plain because it is for a man.

This card is 5" x 5" when folded up with the belly band but you can make it any height you want. For the basic card you need a piece of cardstock 11" x the height you want your card to be. On the long side score at 2.50", 4", 7"and 8.50" I cut my DP 1/8" smaller than the panels. For the tag holder you need to cut it 3" wide and then trim off a little so that the sides will fold over the middle.

Crafts Too embossing folders

These are samples I made for Dutch Paper Crafts using embossing folders from Crafts Too which you can order HERE

 This is the Winter Village folder embossed on blue vellum.

This is the Christmas background folder using the de-bossed side.

For the Christmas Wreath I added glitter to some parts of the wreath.

This folder is called Pine Tree Scene.

For the Snowflake Banner folder I embossed on white core card stock and then did some sanding.

This is the Sleigh folder. The border is a Martha Stewart snowflake border punch and the sentiment is from Papertrey Ink Signature Christmas clear stamp set.

This is the pretty Snowflake Banner folder.

I think this Swirl Baubles folder might be my favorite. I embossed on clear cardstock which like vellum makes the embossing white. 

For the Swirl Christmas Tree I embossed on cream cardstock and highlighted the dots in the swirls with a gold leaf pen and then added a gold peel off.

3D decoupage

I have a ton of 3d decoupage sheets. I order them from a lady in England and so I tend to order a lot at a time. The image I used on this card is from the only Christmas sheets I have.

For the border I used punches from Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page. Behind the 3d image I used the same Spellbinder die from the Ironwork Motif set that I used as a snowflake on previous cards.

Back to Christmas

I used the same Cuttlebug embossing folder, one of a set of five called Winter Wonderland,  as I used on the star cards for this card. Again I used an image that I had previously colored a darling image from Mo's Digital Pencil. I cut it out with scissors and attached it to the card with dimensional tape.

More stars

I used the same embossing folder for this card but this time I used three different sizes of stars. The sentiment is from the same PTI set, Signature Christmas.

Ornament cards

I saw this card on a blog, Inspiration Blooms. I had the Cuttlebug embossing folder but I did not have the stamp that she used so I  had to compromise.

 I used a stamp of a Christmas tree from Flourished and stamped it three times with Versamark ink and embossed with gold embossing powder and then used a Nestie to cut the stars. The sentiment is from PTI also embossed in gold.

 I did the same thing for this card but I used a medallion stamp that is a little bigger than the star.

Holographic snowflake

For this card I used the negative from the card I posted yesterday using a Spellbinders die from the Ironwork Motif set.

The paper behind the snowflake is not different colors it is holographic paper and looks silver when you look straight at it. The different colors appear depending on which way the light hits it. So pretty!

When is a snowflake not a snowflake

Sorry that I have been missing. It is not that I have not been making cards I have just been making cards that I cannot share yet! I did manage to make a couple of cards today that I can share though.

I generally do not buy many things that are holiday specific. I prefer to spend my money on things that I can use at any time of the year. The exception ofcourse is Christmas stamps. This snowflake is not a snowflake at all it is a die from Spellbinders Ironwork Motifs. It does make a pretty snowflake though!

After cutting the die from white cardstock I covered it with crystal glitter to make it sparkle. The background panel is embossed with a Cuttlebug snowflake folder and the sentiment from Flourishes is embossed with gold embossing powder.

Card kits

I make samples for Dutch Paper Crafts and the last samples I made were from kits that Darlene has for sale on her blog right now. I made one or two samples from each kit so there are a lot of cards to share! These were really fun and easy to do.

 

 

 

 

There are 4 cards in each kit. The floral cards come with an envelope but the Christmas cards do not. They all fold flat for mailing and the Christmas cards do fit in an A2 envelope.

One stamp two ways

I was looking through my Christmas digi stamps and found this. I believe I got it from Jak Heath but it is signed 'Jim'. After printing the stamp twice I colored them in two different colorways and made two different cards with the same stamp.

Challenge card

This is my first post for October! After the marathon in September I needed a break! Although I took a little break from posting I have still been busy making sample cards that I can't share yet. I can share this card though that I made for a challenge to use vellum on Card Camp.

I used a Cuttlebug folder on vellum and a sentiment from PTI Signature Christmas that I stamped with Colorbox Frost White ink. This is the first white ink that I have tried that really works! A few blue rhinestones finished it off.

Leaf Medley

This is the second sample card I made using another stamp from the Heartfelt Creations HCPC 3405 Leaf Medley set.

I drew a circle lightly with a pencil and then stamped the wreath erasing the pencil mark when the ink was dry. A few red gems and a bow finished the wreath off.

Let It Snow!

Here in South Texas we will take any kind of wet stuff be it rain, sleet, hail or snow!

I made this card using a clear stamp set I bought last year but never used.  The DP is punched with a Martha Stewart snowflake edge punch. The image is colored with pencils and the sentiment is from a clear $1 stamp set.

Little Elf Mim

This is the last card in the Little Elf series.

I have had so much fun with these delightful elves! Mo has lots of delightful holiday images. Hop on over and take a peek!

Little Elf Kin

This is the third card in the Little Elf series made with digis from Mo's Digital Pencil.

Nothing much to explain about this card except that I used a different kind of glitter on the 'fur' parts. It is a glitter I found in a drawer that I have had for goodness knows how long....many, many, years! It is a fine glass glitter and it looks lovely but doesn't show up well in the picture.

Little Elf Pippa

This is the second of the little elf cards made with digis from Mo's Digital Pencil.

These are so cute and so much fun to color!

Little Elf Finn

I recently purchased some Christmas digis from Mo's Digital Pencil to get a head start on holiday cards. This is the first card.

The image is colored with Prismacolor pencils and the sentiment is a $1 stamp that I bought last year at Michael's. I really need to look through my holiday stamps as I tend to buy them after the holidays when they are on sale to keep for the next year. The trouble is I forget what I have!

Christmas in March

I hope I know where I put this card when Christmas comes around!

The stencil I used for this card is the same one I used yesterday but I used the whole stencil this time.The 3D sheet is another of the new ones I bought so I had to use it!
