Roses

Sorry that I have been missing but I have been coloring! I was reminded by my daughter, who lives in another State and keeps tabs on her mother through the blog, that after I said that I was going back to coloring I didn't and that she was disappointed. Well I can't have that soooo............

It might not look like I have done much coloring but each of these cards are one of a set of six. The sentiment on each card in the set is different and the roses on each one is a different color. The rose is a digi image from Fred She Said, colored with pencils and OMS and cut out. I am making sets of cards that will be donated to be sold in the gift shop of the Miniature Museum of Greater St. Louis. This is a great museum operated by volunteers strictly on funds from the two miniatures shows a year that they put on and sales from the gift shop.

I will be teaching a class, miniatures not cards, at the show in April and I will be taking the card sets with me so I want to have lots of cards ready by then so I have lots of coloring ahead of me!

This is the project that I will be teaching. it is about 5 inches tall and will be put in a glass dome.

Swaps and challenges

I have 3 cards to share with you today that I made over the weekend for swaps and a challenge.

This card is for a swap on Crafty Card Creators for the Express Yourself swap. The pansies in a teacup is a digi image from Fred She Said colored with pencils and OMS.

This card is also for a swap on CCC. The rose is another digi image from FSS. I just love these digi images they are so much fun to color!!

This third card is for a challenge to use blue, yellow, green and white on a card. I used scraps of checkered paper which I stamped and then stamped the flower again, cut them out and adhered to a different color background. The stamp is a $1 stamp from Michaels.

I'm in love!

.....with black and white!

I didn't really know where I was going with this when I started. First I made the white frame using a part of the Embossing Romance EH1842 stencil and embossing and cutting it from a 6" x 6" square. Then I was left with a big white square in the middle. I looked through my stash of 3D sheets for an image that was big enough and found this one. It looked OK on white but it really popped on black so I cut a black square, then a white one a little smaller and the another black one smaller still and mounted the 2D image. I mounted the whole thing on a larger black square then a white one and then on an 8" X 8" black square. I am going to be framing this piece!

Que sera, sera

I just love this retired stamp set, Toile Blossoms, from Stampin Up and decided to make another card with a different stamp from the set.

The paper, which you can't see much of, is from the DCWV Stack 7. There are some great papers in this stack! The sentiment is from Serendipity Stamps. After stamping and coloring the images and adding the sentiment the other 2 corners looked to bare so I used a double slot punch and threaded the ribbon through to give the card a finished look.

Lily of the Valley 2

This is the second card I made with a Lily of the Valley for Helga to choose from. Sorry the picture isn't very good, I am not sure why as I took it using the same settings I always do.

The image is a digital stamp from Fred, She Said and the greeting is from Stampin Up. I colored the image using Prismacolor pencils and OMS, cut it out and embossed using Nestabilities labels 4. While it was still in the die I used chalk to color the background. The stencil I used for the corners is Anja Style corner 2. The flat back pearls were colored with a Copic marker.

Lily of the Valley

I had made a card for Helga and she liked it so much she is having it framed! She called and asked if I would make a birthday card for her to send to her sister in Germany with Lily of the Valley, the flower for May. I want her to have some different choices and this is the first card for her to choose from. I had to do a search to find how to say Happy Birthday in German. I hope I got it right!

With Sympathy

Rest in Peace Mrs Anita Williams.

This is the third sympathy card I have made and mailed in the last seven days. I didn't take pictures of the first two. This is for a friend whose Mother died yesterday at the age of 95. Sadly, because of the weather, my friend and her brother are having a hard time getting to Little Rock AR from their homes in Texas and Maryland.

Is it Spring Yet?

I wish it were Spring and I am sure the people affected by the snow storm wish it were Spring too! I think this card has a spring feeling.....yellow always says Spring to me.

The image I used is a digi image but I can't find it in my files to see where I got it. It is an image that I printed a while ago and just got around to coloring. The flowers said yellow to me so I colored them yellow without thinking about what DP I was going to use. Well that presented a problem as I apparently don't have much paper with yellow in it!

Searching through my scrap drawer I found two narrow strips of this paper and I liked how it looked but wasn't sure how I was going to use two narrow strips. I used a MS edge punch on the side of the card and scored a line next to it. I measured the width of the widest scrap strip and then scored the remainder of the card base. The image is raised with dimensional tape.

CCC Challenge

This is the card I made for a challenge on Crafty Card Creators yahoo group. The challenge is to make a card with a monochromatic color scheme using at least 3 shades of the color.

I looked through my paper stash and came up with a patterned paper from the Eva collection from Basic Gray. The card base is from Cor' dinations and the light and dark pinks are from my stash. The image, from Whippersnapper, is stamped on another piece from the Eva collection, colored with pencils and OMS and raised with dimensional tape. The corners punch is from Martha Stewart.

Two to share

I have 2 cards to share today. With the new goodies I got for my birthday, which is right after Christmas, and with the goodies I have bought for myself recently I have lots of new toys to play with so I used some to make these two cards.

The first new goodie I used was this punch from Martha Stewart. I bought it at Michaels with a 50% off coupon from Joann's. Did you know that Michaels accepts all competitors coupons?

The DP is a sheet I have had for a long time and had hidden from myself. The image is a digi image from Fred She Said. Check out her digi images she has some great ones!

The second new goodie I bought ... also using a 50% off coupon from Joann's ... but this time I bought it from Joann's... is the Fleur De Lis Shapeabilities from Spellbinders.

I wanted to make the card with shades of cream but I didn't have the right color cardstock to match the DP I had selected so I tried gray. I found this sheet of DP in my stash and I had the right shades of gray cardstock! I needed something for the center of the card and found this flower that I had bought a long time ago just because they were on clearance! I love pink and gray together so it worked out perfectly. I used a Copic to color the pearls as I only have white ones! I wish I could learn to color with those durned Copics I bought 'cos they are kinda expensive just for coloring pearls!
