A touch of color

I have been playing around in Paint Shop Pro making digi stamps. This is the first one. The others didn't turn out to my satisfaction so I will be playing more! The image is colored with Prismacolor pencils and OMS and I used the Cuttlebug paisley folder for the panel. If you would like the digi stamp you can download it HERE

Figured it out!

No card today but I have figured out the correct measurements for the card I posted yesterday. I have written directions, for the cutting and folding only, in two sizes. 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" and 61/2" x 5". I just couldn't get it to work for a 5"x7" card and still use 8-1/2"x11" cardstock which is what I mostly have but figured 6-1/2" x 5" will still fit in a 5"x7" envelope. LOL
You can download the PDF file HERE

As compensation for not making a card here is a little something you can send in an e-mail. Right click and save to your computer.

Experiment gone wrong

Somewhere I had seen a card fold similar to this and thought it would be something different from my usual. When I had finished the card I realized that I had the measurements all wrong! When closed the card was supposed to measure 5-1/2" x 4- 1/4" but it measures 4-1/4" square so back to the drawing board! When I get it figured out I will post the dimensions.

I used an Anje Style corner stencil from Marianne Designs for the side panels dry embossed and cut out by hand. On the narrow panels I used a Cuttlebug folder. The 3d sheet is from Nikky.

More Fall Flower Cards

I just found this post that I had saved as a draft and never published! It's a little late but here it is.
These are the other two cards I made with the digi images from the set from Fred, She Said.

The Mums are colored with pencils and OMS. For the background I cut green paper and adhered it to the orange and then ran it through the Cuttlebug using the Argyle folder.

There a a few different options in the digi set and for this card I printed the flower in the frame onto cardstock. I printed the pricking pattern on plain paper and then taped it over the image with temporary double stick tape matching the frame. I pricked the pattern and then with the pattern still attached I cut around the outer frame.

Fall Flowers

Today I have 2 cards to share with you. The images I used are digital stamps from Fred, She Said With the stamps also comes a pattern for paper piercing. I printed out all four of the flowers. These are the first two cards I made and I will share the other two tomorrow.

This is the Aster digi stamp. I colored the image with Prismacolor pencils and OMS and cut it out and embossed the edge with an oval Nestability and the Cuttlebug. The aperture is cut and embossed with an oval Nestie 2 sizes bigger. The mat behind the aperture is a piece of Basic Grey from the Porcelain collection.

For the second card I used the sunflower image. The green CS went through the Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots embossing folder and then I rubbed over the dots with a white ink pad. I used the Distressed Stripes folder on a piece of kraft CS and lightly went over it with a brown ink pad and distressed the edges with my fingernail. A very inexpensive distressing tool! Of course I don't have a fancy manicure either! LOL

I printed the image twice on CS and once on paper. I cut out the paper image to use as a mask. I used an oval nestie to cut one image and then used the mask I cut from paper to cover the image and used golden yellow and green chalks to color the background and then inked the edge with brown ink. I colored the images with Prismacolor pencils and OMS and then from the second image I cut out part of the flower, a part of the leaf on the left and the leaf in the front and attached them with dimensional tape.

Black and White Pansies

On one of the Yahoo groups I belong to, Crafty Card Creators, we played a game of Wheel Of Fortune. I was one of the first 3 players to get all the answers and our sweet list owner Rita sent me some 3 D sheets!

I made this card with one of the sheets. It is so much prettier in real life. The flowers came edged with silver! I used some black paper with a silver stripe to mount the image on and backed that with silver cardstock and mounted it all on a black card. I added some silver Stickles to the center of the flowers and a silver peel off sticker.

Primrose

This is the other card I made with my experimental piece of lattice that I did for the Silhouette. I am still struggling with getting the size I want and positioning it where I want. I really don't think the learning curve is as steep as I am making it!

The primrose image is from Dover. I printed it and colored it with Prismacolor pencils and OMS and then cut it out. I put the green mat through the Cuttlebug with the 'Diamonds In The Rough' folder. The sentiment is from Whippersnapper stamped on a tag from the Three Tag Trio from Spellbinders. As I didn't have any ribbon in the right color I used a strip of the same blue paper I used behind the lattice to attach the tag.

Problems

I found out that the files sharing site I was using to share files has been hacked. If you have tried to download a file in the last couple of days and couldn't that is the reason why. I have now moved the files to a different file sharing site so try clicking on the link again. I have moved the most recent files but I am still working on finding the older posts that have links to files.

I don't have a card to share again today so here is another graphic.

Click on the graphic to get the full size and then right click and save to your computer.

Have A Fun Day

I don't have a card to share with you today but I have something else. Before I started making cards I did a lot of fun graphics in Paint Shop Pro. I was cleaning out the files on my computer and came across these small messages that I made to be embedded in emails so on the days I don't have a card to share I thought II would share these with you.

Please save the graphic to your computer by clicking on the image to bring up the original size image and then right click on the image and choose 'Save Image As'.

If your email program doesn't allow embedded pictures you can use Outlook Express which I believe comes with all PC's . You can download a PDF file with the directions for embedding a picture in Outlook Express HERE

Sketchy Christmas

I did this card for a swap on one of my groups. It is a sketch challenge. When I saw the sketch I thought of the three ornaments stamp from Stampin' Up. I don't know what set it is from but it is an older one. I don't have many Stampin' Up sets and I don't keep them together as sets. The words are from another older Stampin' Up set.

The papers are from a pad my daughter bought me after Christmas last year. It was on clearance! The 'Happy Holidays' was cut from one of the sheets.

Fall into Autumn

This card is for another swap. It is so much prettier in real life than in the picture. I used a gold metallic CS for the mat. I stamped the tree with Versamark ink and embossed it with detail gold embossing powder. The stamp is from a clear set I bought at Michaels.

A new Winner & Lattice & Violets

Well the 'Just Because' card wasn't claimed and so I drew another name.

The new winner is...........JD!

JD please e-mail me with your full name and mailing address, You will find my email address in my profile.

Now on to today's card.A while ago I bought a Silhouette craft cutter and there it sat. Yesterday I decided I needed to learn how to use it. I have a loooong way to go and it took all day but I did figure out how to make lattice in Robo Master with the help of a tutorial for Craft Robo which unfortunately was metric which really messed me up. How big is 2 cm in inches?
I decided to forget the metric system and try to figure out the measurements that I wanted in inches myself. My first effort was to to small but usable and this card shows my second effort. It still didn't turn out to be the size I wanted but I will get there. I have so much I want to try like doing the cutting for the dry embossing stencils.

I backed the lattice with a piece of DP from my stash and used green CS for the mat. I didn't like how much white showed on the center of the lattice so I cut a small frame from the green CS. The gold butterfly and salutation are peel off stickers.

Wednesday Sept. 9th. Edited to note: I did not send this post on Tuesday at 11:13pm I sent it today, Wednesday at about 2:30 pm!

Pyramid Card & Unclaimed Card

I wanted to make another pyramid card for a swap so I went to my own directions that I posted back on April 23rd and I couldn't understand my own directions! Not good. After taking a closer look I realized that the graphic I did was wrong! Lordy, lordy I must be getting senile!

This is the first card I did back in April I used Basic Grey papers and the angel stamps are from Stampedous and I colored the angels with pencils.

This is the new card/ornament I made. On the left you can see how the pyramid folds flat for mailing and on the right how it looks as an ornament. I used scraps to make the trees. I cut squares 1-3/4", 1-1/2" and 1" and cut them in half diagonally. They are overlapped 1/4" and raised with dimentional tape. The dark dots are gold stickles but the glitter doesn't show. I used gold stickers to make the word J-O-Y on the tops of the trees.

I have written new, clearer, directions for making the pyramid that you can embellish as you like. You can download the directions HERE

NOTE: The 'Just Because" card hasn't been claimed. If Carole hasn't claimed it by noon PST, 2:00pm CST, 3:00pm EST tomorrow, Wednesday I will draw another name and announce the new winner.

Clematis

This is almost the same layout as the 'Just Because' card. This time I made the white panel to fit the card base. I cut the white panel to 5-1/2" x 4-3/4" and used a MS border punch. Then with the Scor-Pal I scored diagonally every 1/4" in 2 directions between the borders. I scored the 2"blue panel vertically every 1/4". The clematis is from Dover and I used Nesties to cut the oval and scalloped panels. The flower panel is glued to the green panel and the bottom white panel and the green panel are raised with dimentional tape.
If you haven't discovered Scrap-mart.com they always have teriffic deals but right now they have the Nesties on sale for $13.99 until midnight CST tonight. They always have great deals and they always have free shipping on Quickutz, Bosskuts and Spellbinders products! They don't know me from Adam except as a customer but I like to pass on good deals when I find them.

Just Because

August was not a very productive month for me posting on my blog. I had company and I lost my mojo. I think I have found it though hiding under the mess on my desk! I will try to do better in September.

Because I have been MIA so much I have decided to send the first card of this month as an RAK to someone who leaves a comment on this post. I will put the names in a hat and draw the winner and post their name on Saturday morning Sept 5th. Remember 'Anonymous' isn't a name that qualifies!

This card was much simpler to do than it looks. The card base is 5.5" x 3.5". I cut a piece of white CS 5.5" x 4.75" and used a Martha Stewart border punch on the two long sides. I then embossed just inside the border with one of the Cuttlebug 'Frills' border folders. I cut a panel of green CS 5.5" long and wide enough to fit between the embossing, then a purple panel 5.5" and 1/4" narrower and a white one 5.25" and 1/4" narrower still. I embossed this panel with a distressed stripes folder.

I used a Cuttlebug die to cut the label for the salutation from Papertrey Ink. The 3d sheet is from Crafty Nikki.

This is what I did with the inside of the card. You can see how the border from the front extends beyond the edge of the card.
